The Higher Education staff team at SGS College's Bristol School of Art are proud to unveil a tapestry of recent research activities, reflecting the remarkable breadth and excitement of its faculty members' achievements. From solo exhibitions to artist residencies, group shows, and ground-breaking art history research, the staff continues to push the boundaries of artistic exploration and academic inquiry.
Highlighted Research Activities include:
- Jess Turrell at Sarah Myerscough Gallery, London: Jess Turrell's work is a standout feature in the group exhibition "Memories Are Made Of This" at Sarah Myerscough Gallery, London, running until January 27, 2024.
- Jess Thorn at Centrespace Gallery, Bristol: Jess Thorn has exhibited new work in the thought-provoking exhibition "Disruption, Direction" at Centrespace Gallery, Bristol.
- Vera Boele-Keimer's Artistic Journey: Vera Boele-Keimer's artistic endeavours have taken her to the group exhibition "Linear Construction" with Smithson Projects in Bristol. She recently received a prestigious Research and Development Bursary from WEVAA (The West of England Visual Arts Alliance). Vera's work is currently on view in the RWA Autumn Exhibition until January 24. In 2024, she will embark on an artist residency with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.
- Cliff Andrade's Artistic Sojourn in Sweden: Cliff Andrade has successfully completed an artist residency titled "Walking as Practice" at Bjorko Konstnod, Sweden.
- Jack Wilson's Solo Exhibition and Bloc Project's Members Show: Jack Wilson mesmerized audiences with his solo exhibition, "To Live a Thousand Years in One Poem," at 36 Gallery in Newcastle. Additionally, his work is featured in Bloc Project's Members Show 2023 in Sheffield.
- Lotfi Gouigah's Collaborative Research: Lotfi Gouigah is co-authoring an article with Dr. Debanjali Biswas on Marina Abramović's "Gates and Portals" exhibition at the Pitt Rivers and Oxford Museum of Modern Art.
Head of Department, Amanda Lowry, expressed immense pride in the diverse and impactful research contributions of the Art Faculty members. She comments: “The range of activities, from exhibitions to residencies and collaborative research, showcases the vibrant spirit of artistic exploration and academic inquiry at SGS College."
